nmesн i was only recently introduced to this band via one of vinyl williams' many personal spotify playlists - although i'm two years late to this record, had i heard it in 2020, it would have been a definite AOTY contender - it's a masterclass in genre-hopping psychedelia that warrants numerous listens (there's lots to take in), and holy shit, that cover artwork - count me in. Favorite track: Echo Mountain.

Ryan Evans HTX Always excited to see what this band does next. This album flows really well and has a good mix of ethereal/minimal grooves and fusion jams. Favorite track: Shapes That Change Shape.

Thomas Gelfer Soulful, psychedelic space-funk that vibes HARD. These cats belong on Brainfeeder records with their soul brothers Flying Lotus and Thundercat. One of my favorite albums of the year! Favorite track: Memory Sequence.

Moving way too fast In a flying car The color of the sky I’ve never seen before A clearing in the woods A castle on a hill I’m at a loss for words And I don’t know how I feel This won’t be the last time I see a world of my design Waited too long and now it’s gone Don’t know how Life moves along while we dream Caring about every little thing All the silhouettes Of things so far away Eyes drink up the light Of another dying day Moving way too fast Ready to slow down Someone take the wheel Someone make a sound I watched the slow change Got impatient missed the moment Too afraid to listen for A silence I can hear Waited too long and now it’s gone Don’t know how Don’t know how Life moves along while we dream Caring about every little thing Carry me Carry me

How does it feel To see the light from the Dream come to life Shines so bright You might just go blind Run around Tell yourself there’s something that you need That you could live without Time to grow up Time to grow up Where does it go Just as you start to think that you know A story so intricate that you Can’t tell the difference Run around Tell yourself there’s something that you need That you could live without Time to grow up Time to grow up

In the morning after I Wrote you what was on my mind I could hardly wait to hear Rejection when it sounds so clear There’s a wave that never breaks It gives and gives up when it takes If a baby born today Had a voice what would it say?

What it is What it isn’t What I want it to be Everything in between us Grows like the Ocean when we submarine I had to put down the holy grail With nobody watching Had to lift myself up with the sail And everyone’s watching What I want it to be Everything in between us Grows like the Ocean when we submarine Deep down You feel it Deep down

Are you stuck Or did you even notice I might as well Do something drastic It’s hard enough to focus It’s hard enough to write I’m running out of hours But here I am again And it’s eating me alive Cut the power line This feeling isn’t right It’s hard enough to focus It’s hard enough to write I’m running out of hours But here I am again And it’s eating me alive I might as well but if I did Who would even know but I might as well

about

Photosynthesis, the new LP from The Breathing Effect, is epic, lush, and unpredictable. It illustrates a synthesis of psychedelic sound design, progressive songwriting, and meticulous production. The first single from the record, “In The Morning,” sees the band’s unique performance style underlining an experimental song form. From front to back, the listener will find that no two songs are alike, yet they all belong to the same universe. The Breathing Effect has once again delivered a truly original work that transforms with each new listen.
